About This Role
Hardware Product Manager
Full-Time | Hybrid | New York, NY
About the Company
A leading consumer technology company, this organization designs and delivers innovative audio and connected devices that reach customers around the world. With a fast-moving, execution-driven culture, the team is passionate about building hardware that people love — from early concept through the moment it lands in a customer's hands. They are scaling rapidly and looking for sharp, ownership-minded talent to grow with them.
The Role
This is a hands-on, end-to-end hardware product management role for someone who thrives in the details and knows how to keep complex programs moving. You will own consumer electronics products across their full lifecycle — from initial concept and specification through engineering development, manufacturing, and launch. This is not a strategy-only seat. The right person brings sharp execution instincts, a deep comfort with hardware development processes, and the ability to drive alignment across engineering, operations, firmware, and go-to-market teams simultaneously.
What You Will Do
• Own hardware products from concept through mass production, driving every phase of the development lifecycle with clarity and accountability.
• Author and maintain product requirements documents and detailed specifications that translate customer and business needs into actionable engineering direction.
• Manage product schedules and manufacturing timelines, proactively identifying risks and resolving blockers before they become delays.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with overseas manufacturing partners and engineering vendors, coordinating day-to-day execution and keeping external relationships on track.
• Navigate tradeoffs across cost, performance, and schedule — making and defending decisions with data and sound judgment.
• Coordinate closely with firmware, electrical engineering, industrial design, operations, and product marketing teams to ensure seamless cross-functional execution.
• Support launch readiness activities, including validation milestones, production ramp planning, and go-to-market alignment.
• Maintain rigorous attention to program status, surfacing issues early and communicating clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
• 3–4+ years in hardware product or program management
• Hands-on experience in consumer electronics or with electrical components
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership from concept through manufacturing
• Familiarity with hardware development stages (EVT, DVT, PVT)
• Experience managing overseas vendors or ODM/OEM manufacturers
• Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills
• Ability to write clear, detailed PRDs and hardware specifications
• Comfort working in fast-paced, execution-focused environments
The ideal candidate has lived inside a hardware development cycle — not just observed it from a roadmap level. They understand what it takes to move a physical product from a whiteboard sketch through tooling, validation builds, and factory ramp, and they have the scars to prove it. Experience working directly with manufacturers in Asia is a meaningful advantage, as is familiarity with firmware coordination and the realities of consumer electronics production timelines. Backgrounds in hardware product management, technical program management, engineering program management, or mechanical engineering with strong ownership experience are all well-suited for this role.
Nice to Have
There are no formal nice-to-have requirements for this role beyond the core qualifications listed above. Candidates who bring experience across adjacent hardware categories — such as wearables, audio devices, smart accessories, IoT products, or AI-connected hardware — will find the work immediately familiar and the ramp-up minimal.
What We Offer
