About the Company
Our client is a leading banking payments software company at the forefront of financial technology innovation. They build and maintain mission-critical platforms that power high-volume payment processing for major institutions. With a strong engineering culture and a commitment to reliability, they are expanding their technical leadership team to meet growing demand.
---
The Role
This is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity for a seasoned Java engineer who thrives in reactive, event-driven environments. As a Java Lead specializing in Spring WebFlux, you will guide a team of developers building and stabilizing distributed microservices within a high-stakes payments ecosystem. You will be the go-to technical authority on the team — shaping architecture decisions, driving production stability, and serving as a key point of contact for stakeholder communication. This is a fully on-site, long-term contract engagement based in Las Vegas, NV.
---
What You Will Do
• Lead the design and development of reactive microservices using Spring WebFlux and Spring Boot
• Define and enforce API design standards and architectural patterns across the team
• Architect and oversee Kafka-based event streaming integrations within distributed systems
• Own application stability — lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortems
• Mentor and guide developers, conducting code reviews and setting engineering best practices
• Collaborate with architects to evaluate and evolve the overall system design
• Provide regular, clear technical updates to management and business stakeholders
• Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support deployment pipelines and cloud environments
---
What We Are Looking For
• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Deep expertise in Spring WebFlux and reactive programming
• Strong command of Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
• Proven experience designing and building production-grade APIs
• Hands-on Kafka experience in distributed, event-driven systems
• Demonstrated technical lead or team lead experience
• Background in banking, payments, or financial services domains
• Strong communicator comfortable presenting to managers and stakeholders
The ideal candidate is a battle-tested Java engineer who has moved beyond individual contribution into genuine technical ownership. You have led teams through complex, high-availability challenges and understand what it takes to keep payment-critical systems running reliably in production. Your background in the banking or payments space means you bring domain fluency alongside your engineering depth — and you communicate clearly with both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders without missing a beat.
---
Nice to Have
• Experience with React for front-end integration awareness
• Kubernetes for container orchestration in production environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and DevOps workflows
• Cloud platform experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis
Candidates who bring cloud and container experience will find immediate opportunities to apply those skills, as the platform operates across modern infrastructure. Comfort with CI/CD pipelines and a working knowledge of front-end technologies like React will help you collaborate more effectively across the full delivery lifecycle. These skills are not required on day one, but they will accelerate your impact and broaden your influence within the team.

• On-site presence in Las Vegas, NV, embedded directly with the core engineering team
• Exposure to high-volume, mission-critical payments infrastructure
• A technically rigorous environment where your leadership will have real, visible impact
• Opportunity to shape architecture decisions and grow your influence across a talented engineering organization
