About This Role
Scrum Master (Contract | Remote | United States)

About the Company
A leading health solutions and insurance consulting company, our client partners with organizations to modernize how they deliver value to consumers through agile, scalable, and collaborative ways of working. They operate at the intersection of technology, strategy, and human-centered design — and they are growing. Joining their team means contributing to outcomes that genuinely improve people's health and coverage experiences.

The Role
This is a contract, fully remote Scrum Master opportunity for a seasoned agile practitioner who thrives in scaled enterprise environments. You will serve as a hands-on facilitator, coach, and delivery enabler for a cross-functional team operating within an Agile Release Train. You will help the team stay aligned, unblocked, and continuously improving — while connecting day-to-day sprint work to broader organizational and portfolio objectives. If you are energized by ambiguity, passionate about team health, and fluent in SAFe, this role is built for you.
────────────────────────────────────────
What You Will Do
• Facilitate all Scrum and SAFe ceremonies — sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives — ensuring time-boxed iterations run with purpose and discipline.
• Lead and coordinate PI Planning events, helping teams align on objectives, dependencies, and delivery commitments across the Agile Release Train.
• Coach team members — including Product Owners, engineers, designers, and analysts — on agile principles, self-organization, and continuous improvement practices.
• Proactively identify, escalate, and help resolve impediments that disrupt team flow or threaten delivery commitments.
• Track and communicate sprint progress using enterprise tooling, maintaining transparency with stakeholders and leadership.
• Partner with Product Owners to support healthy backlog management, prioritization alignment, and clarity of acceptance criteria.
• Connect team-level delivery outcomes to segment and organizational strategies, ensuring work contributes meaningfully to broader portfolio goals.
• Leverage AI and large language model tools to drive efficiencies in planning, forecasting, backlog hygiene, and ways of working.
• Engage actively via video collaboration, modeling the visibility and presence expected of a strong team leader in a distributed environment.

What We Are Looking For
• 4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master on an Agile Release Train
• Active SAFe 6.0 SSM certification (required)
• Demonstrated experience facilitating PI Planning events
• Proven ability to facilitate all Scrum ceremonies effectively
• Strong impediment identification and removal track record
• Experience coaching distributed, cross-functional teams
• High emotional intelligence and confident communication skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional expertise
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and working independently
The ideal candidate brings a deep, practiced understanding of SAFe at the enterprise level — not just the theory, but the day-to-day reality of keeping a scaled team aligned and moving. You have spent meaningful time inside Agile Release Trains, facilitating PI Planning events that actually land, and running ceremonies that teams find valuable rather than performative. Your coaching instincts are sharp, your communication is clear under pressure, and you know how to build trust quickly with Product Owners, engineers, and stakeholders alike. A background working in globally distributed team environments is essential, as is the ability to show up with energy and presence in a fully remote setting.

Nice to Have
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Jira Align
• Familiarity with Kanban methodology
• Additional Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, or equivalent)
• Background in insurance or health solutions operations
• Working knowledge of agile project management tooling
• Prior experience embedded with product or IT delivery teams
Candidates who bring hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and Jira Align will be able to contribute immediately, as these tools are central to how the team tracks and communicates progress. A background in insurance or health solutions operations is a meaningful differentiator — it shortens the ramp to understanding the business context behind the work and helps you ask better questions in planning conversations. Familiarity with Kanban alongside Scrum signals the kind of methodological flexibility that serves teams well in a complex, evolving enterprise environment.

What We Offer
This is a fully remote contract engagement, giving you the flexibility to do your best work from anywhere in the United States. You will be embedded in a mature, enterprise-scale agile environment where your facilitation and coaching skills will be exercised daily — not occasionally. The scope of the role offers genuine exposure to portfolio-level strategy, cross-functional stakeholder dynamics, and evolving agile tooling, making it a strong platform for practitioners who want to deepen their SAFe expertise and expand their impact within a complex, mission-driven organization.
