About This Role

Senior Infrastructure Developer | Contract | Houston, TX / Jersey City, NJ / San Francisco, CA / Seattle, WA ——— About the Company A leading investment banking company with a global footprint, this organization sits at the forefront of financial services technology, operating some of the most complex and high-stakes infrastructure environments in the industry. Their engineering teams are held to the highest standards, building and maintaining systems that demand both precision and scale. This is an environment where elite technical talent thrives. ——— The Role A leading investment banking company is looking for four Senior Infrastructure Developers to join their onsite engineering teams across Houston, TX, Jersey City, NJ, San Francisco, CA, and Seattle, WA. This is a 12-month contract engagement with a path to permanent placement for the right candidates. You will be embedded in a high-performance infrastructure organization, taking ownership of Hyper-V cluster architecture, automation engineering, and large-scale data center operations. If you come from a big tech environment or a high-frequency trading or hedge fund background and you thrive on solving hard infrastructure problems at scale, this role was built for you. ——— What You Will Do - Architect, deploy, and continuously refine Hyper-V cluster environments — spanning failover clustering, storage configurations, and multi-data-center network design. - Build automation tooling in PowerShell, WMI, and .NET that covers the full infrastructure lifecycle: provisioning, patching, compliance enforcement, and decommissioning. - Develop C#/.NET services that integrate directly with Hyper-V clusters, extending platform capabilities and improving operational reliability. - Own and evolve existing server orchestration and workload management platforms, raising the bar through peer code reviews and thorough documentation. - Drive infrastructure migration initiatives and environment upgrades, engineering for maximum uptime and minimal disruption. - Evaluate hardware proposals and translate technical findings into actionable procurement and deployment guidance. - Diagnose and resolve sophisticated issues spanning hypervisor, compute, storage, and network layers using advanced diagnostic methodologies. - Partner cross-functionally with hardware engineering teams, vendor partners, and operations stakeholders to keep infrastructure performance aligned with long-term strategic objectives. ——— What We Are Looking For • Expert-level PowerShell — writing, testing, and troubleshooting freestanding scripts • Expert-level Hyper-V — including building vCenter environments from the ground up • Expert-level Windows Administration and Systems Engineering • Strong C#/.NET development — coding services for hypervisor cluster environments • Proven infrastructure migration experience at enterprise scale • Hands-on failover clustering and storage architecture experience • Data center operations background across multi-site environments • Infrastructure automation design and implementation The ideal candidate brings deep, battle-tested expertise across the Microsoft infrastructure stack and has spent meaningful time in environments where uptime is non-negotiable. You are equally comfortable writing production-grade automation code as you are designing cluster architecture or troubleshooting a live incident. Candidates who have operated within large-scale technology companies or quantitative finance environments will be particularly well-suited to the pace and expectations of this role. This is not an entry point into infrastructure engineering — it is a seat for someone who has already mastered it. ——— Nice to Have • WMI scripting for infrastructure diagnostics and automation • Experience evaluating hardware for hypervisor performance optimization • Familiarity with server orchestration platforms and workload management tools • Exposure to continuous delivery pipelines in infrastructure contexts Candidates who bring experience with WMI scripting will be able to hit the ground running on automation work that spans the full infrastructure stack. Familiarity with server orchestration platforms and continuous delivery in an infrastructure context signals the kind of modern engineering mindset this team values. Hardware evaluation experience is a meaningful differentiator, as this role does intersect with procurement strategy. Any combination of these skills alongside the core requirements will strengthen your candidacy considerably. ——— What We Offer This is a fully onsite role, five days per week, at one of four major financial hub locations: Houston, TX; Jersey City, NJ; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA. You will be working alongside senior engineers in a high-caliber, fast-moving environment with direct exposure to enterprise-scale infrastructure challenges that few organizations can offer. The contract structure includes a conversion pathway to full-time employment, making this an exceptional opportunity for a senior engineer looking to plant roots at one of the most recognized institutions in global finance. Growth here is driven by impact — and the scope of this role offers plenty of room to demonstrate it.
