The Role
This is a hands-on, senior-level contract engineering role for a Python specialist who has gone deep on Generative AI, large language models, and the emerging world of agentic application development. You will be embedded with client engineering and product teams, taking ownership of the full arc from design through deployment — building production-grade AI systems that are robust, observable, and ready for enterprise scale. If you thrive at the crossroads of strong software engineering fundamentals and applied AI, this role was built for you.
---
What You Will Do
• Design and build scalable agentic AI applications powered by Python, translating complex business requirements into clean, maintainable technical solutions.
• Architect and implement multi-agent workflows, orchestration pipelines, and tool integrations that operate reliably in production environments.
• Develop backend services, REST APIs, and microservices that serve as the backbone for AI-powered products and enterprise integrations.
• Apply techniques including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector database management, and function calling to enhance model performance and relevance.
• Build agent workflows using modern frameworks, connecting AI capabilities to enterprise systems, SaaS platforms, databases, and business applications.
• Implement agent memory, context management, and state handling strategies that keep multi-step workflows coherent and efficient.
• Deploy and operate AI workloads on cloud platforms, ensuring observability, logging, monitoring, and performance tuning are built in from the start.
• Engage directly with client stakeholders through technical workshops, solution demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements, translating needs into actionable engineering plans.
• Troubleshoot complex integration and performance issues, providing hands-on support throughout implementation cycles.
• Champion responsible AI engineering practices, including secure authentication, data protection, and appropriate governance controls.
---
What We Are Looking For
• Advanced Python proficiency across OOP, concurrency, and async patterns
• Production experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django
• Hands-on work with LLMs, RAG pipelines, and vector databases
• Experience building or orchestrating AI agents in real-world deployments
• Familiarity with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or OpenAI Agent SDK
• Cloud platform experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Solid grasp of REST API design, microservices, and event-driven architecture
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
• Strong debugging, testing, and dependency management discipline
• Comfortable engaging directly with client engineering teams and stakeholders
The ideal candidate brings a track record of shipping production Python applications and has made a deliberate move into the Generative AI and agentic space — not just experimenting, but building systems that run in the real world. They understand that great AI engineering is still great software engineering, and they bring the rigor of the latter to the ambiguity of the former. Client-facing confidence matters here: this person can walk into a technical workshop, ask the right questions, and come back with a solution that earns trust.
